Nashua Country Club Shooting: One Dead, Two Injured as Gunman Opens Fire During Wedding

Bookmark and Share

A peaceful wedding celebration turned into a nightmare on September 20, 2025, when a gunman opened fire at the Sky Meadow Country Club in Nashua, New Hampshire, killing one man and injuring two others. The suspect, Hunter Nadeau, 23, was arrested shortly after the incident and now faces multiple charges, including second-degree murder.

The shooting occurred in the restaurant area of the country club while a wedding was underway. Robert Steven DeCesare, 59, was fatally shot while dining with his family. Two others—a club employee and a guest—were also wounded and remain hospitalized.

Witnesses described chaos as guests scrambled for safety. Some reported hearing the shooter shout “Free Palestine,” though officials say the motive appears to be disruption rather than ideology.

Nadeau, a former employee of the venue, was captured in a nearby neighborhood. He has been charged with second-degree murder, and prosecutors expect additional charges related to the injured victims. Early reports of multiple shooters were later dismissed.

Authorities say there is no known connection between Nadeau and DeCesare. The suspect’s statements during the attack were likely intended to sow confusion. Investigators continue to examine Nadeau’s background and possible mental health factors.

Several guests intervened during the shooting, including one who struck Nadeau with a chair. Their quick action may have prevented further loss of life. “He saved lives,” said DJ Michael Homewood, who was working the wedding event.

DeCesare’s widow, Charlene, described her husband as a protector and hero. “He died shielding us,” she said. The family is now preparing for their daughter’s wedding, scheduled just weeks after the tragedy.

The Nashua country club shooting has left a deep scar on the community and raised concerns about safety at public gatherings. As legal proceedings begin and the investigation unfolds, residents are mourning a beloved father and honoring the bravery of those who stepped in to help.
