A tragic accident at Universal’s newly opened Epic Universe theme park has left the community stunned. On the evening of September 17, 2025, Kevin Rodriguez Zavala, 32, became unresponsive after riding Stardust Racers, a high-speed dueling roller coaster. He was transported to a hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.
An autopsy revealed the cause of death as multiple blunt impact injuries, officially ruled an accident. The ride, which reaches speeds of 62 mph and heights of 133 feet, has been closed pending investigation.
Universal Orlando released a statement expressing condolences and confirmed full cooperation with authorities. Theme park safety experts say the findings raise questions about restraint systems, ride design, and guest health screening.
